ALFRED SCHREUDER hopes victory over Rangers will inspire Ajax to a prolonged European campaign as they seek to finish on a high in the Champions League at Ibrox.
The Dutch giants got off to a stunning start in Group A with a 4-0 victory over Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side on Matchday One in early September.
The following four fixtures have not got to plan for Schreuder, though, and Ajax have failed to pick up a point from their meetings with Napoli and Liverpool.
Rangers face the impossible task of requiring a five-goal victory on home soil to ensure they finish above their visitors and drop into the Europa League this term.
And Schreuder is determined to make it two from two against the Light Blues to give his side a crack at further European action in the coming months.
Schreuder said: “We have just had a week of rest and an extra training day. We are very satisfied with the way we are looking.
“We have analysed the home match against Rangers. We were in good form that day and it went well.
“We have also had a couple of matches against teams that were too mighty for us and we have been able to measure ourselves against other teams in different phases.
“I do enjoy travelling and the stadium here is fantastic. You feel like a little boy when you come to places like this.
“But we haven’t done any sightseeing as we haven’t come here for that, we have come here to win the match.
“When you see the group after the draw was made we believed we could finish in top two in the group. But the reality is that it didn’t work out like we hoped.
“It is important for us to reach the Europa League and if we do that then we have to look to go far in that competition.”
