Schools near the Eaton Fire, California’s fourth most destructive blaze, will remain closed, affecting students in the Pasadena Unified and La Cañada Unified School Districts. The closure is a precautionary measure due to the ongoing threat posed by the fire.

Malibu schools, which are part of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, will also be closed as a result of the Palisades Fire, the state’s third most destructive blaze. The safety of students and staff is the top priority in these situations.

Pasadena Unified has faced significant challenges, with five of its campuses suffering severe damage or complete destruction. As a result, the district has announced that schools will be closed for the entire week to assess the extent of the damage and plan for recovery.

La Cañada Unified schools, serving the community of La Cañada Flintridge, will remain closed until Tuesday. The district is actively seeking a state waiver to address the loss of instructional days and minimize the need to extend the school year.
