A number of schools have been hit by closures this morning after temperatures plunged overnight.
Council chiefs confirmed this morning that classes have been cancelled at a number of buildings in East Ayrshire and North Ayrshire.
It follows temperatures falling as low as -9C as a bitter winter blast hit the county.
Loudoun Academy has closed due to a power failure and lack of heating this morning.
Drongan Primary and Whatriggs Primary are also closed - as are both schools' early years centres.
Meanwhile, Dalry Primary in North Ayrshire has had to remain close for a second day due to a fault with their heating system.
