A young schoolgirl has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car near a supermarket in Fife.
The crash took place at around 3.30pm on Saturday when the eight-year-old girl was standing at a pedestrian crossing near the Lidl store on Leslie Road in Glenrothes.
She was struck by a silver Kia Sportage and was taken to hospital where she received treatment for a serious leg injury.
The driver of the Kia stopped to assist.
Officers are now looking to speak to anyone who saw what happened, particularly a female driver who also stopped to help the injured youngster.
Police Constable John Brown said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened, in particular a woman driver who also stopped to assist.
“If you were in the area and can help them please get in touch.
"We would also like to speak to anyone driving at the time who has dash-cam footage that could help with our enquiries.”
