A schoolgirl was rushed to hospital by air ambulance tonight with a serious head injury after being hit by a car.
Police have confirmed the young girl was hit by a red Nissan Qashqai at around 3.30pm. The incident happened on Old Chester Road which is now closed with drivers asked to avoid the area.
The age of the young girl is not known at this time, but police have confirmed her condition is "serious". The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries.

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "We can confirm that emergency services are on Old Chester Road in Bebington following a serious collision this afternoon, Thursday 9 February.
"Just after 3.30pm we received a report of a collision involving a red Nissan Qashqai and a pedestrian.
"The pedestrian, a young girl, sustained a serious head injury and has been taken to hospital via an air ambulance. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries.
"Old Chester Road is closed whilst emergency services remain at the scene and drivers are asked to avoid the area.
