A schoolboy has become a social media sensation after he was watched more than seven million times on Twitter wearing a dress to his Norfolk secondary school’s prom.
Korben, 16, stepped out in the sequined frock to celebratory cheers at Archbishop Sancroft High School in Harleston, Norfolk on Friday.
RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage was among the hundreds to express their well wishes on social media as she called Korben a “star”.
She wrote: “Ohhhhhhhh yes! You are an amazing beautiful mom and your child is a STAR.”
When Korben was 12, he told his mum Nina Green that he wanted to wear a dress to the post-year 11 bash and four years later he did exactly that.
She tweeted: “At age 12 my son announced he wanted to go to his school prom in a gown.
“Four years later we made it happen. I’m so incredibly proud of him for being true to himself and the reception he got from his whole school was incredible.”
After the video went viral, she added: “When I posted images of my son being true to himself I never expected it to get the response it has.
“The support and positivity has been overwhelming and has totally drowned out the few negative ones which we took no notice of. It’s his life and I’m letting him live it.”
Her phone kept buzzing the next day as the pair went to Pride in London and they were recognised by some of the participants in the parade.
Korben wrote on Twitter: “Oh my goodness… the amount of love… thank you! Thank you to everyone who is not only supportive of me but supports the LGBTQIA+ community!”
