Schoolboy, 14, charged with eight offences

A teenager has been charged with eight offences.

The 14-year-old from Runcorn, who cannot be named due to his age, appeared at Cheshire Youth Court in Warrington on Thursday. He was released on bail with conditions not to contact four named individuals, not to enter Shopping City or Trident retail park and not to board any buses.

Court documents said the youth was also made subject to a 7pm to 7am curfew with a requirement to present himself to a police officer upon request if needed.

He faces eight charges: having a blade - a namely a machete - in public on or about February 8; four counts of using threatening words or behaviour on January 20, January 30, January 31, and February 1; criminal damage to a window on January 19; assault by beating on February 1; and theft from a motor vehicle - namely an emergency hammer belonging to Arriva buses on December 21.

All of the counts relate to incidents alleged to have occurred in Runcorn. The teenager has pleaded not guilty to seven of the counts, with no plea entered indicated in the court log in relation to the blade allegation.

He is next due to appear at Cheshire Youth Court in Warrington on Thursday, March 23, 2023.
