A 14-year-old schoolboy has been arrested following a knifepoint robbery onboard a Metrolink tram near Trafford.
Police reported the incident took place on a Metrolink which was travelling between Sale Waterpark and Manchester City Centre on Tuesday (April 26). The 14-year-old male was later arrested and remains in police custody. During the arrest, a large knife was recovered by officers.

The suspect is being questioned by officers. In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “#gmptransportunit have arrested a 14yr old male following reports of a knifepoint robbery on a Metrolink journey between Sale Waterpark and the City Centre on Tuesday 26th.
“Large knife was recovered during the arrest. Suspect now in custody and is being questioned by officers.”
