Schoolboy, 11, 'punched in face by grown man' at friend's house

An 11-year-old boy claims he was punched in the face by a man more than twice his age after visiting a friend's house.

Kayla Birks, from the Wirral, said her son Milo was visiting a friend's house on Saturday November 19, when he was attacked by a 26-year-old man who was also at the property. The assault left Milo with marks across his face, and has left the schoolboy shaken up.

Kayla told the ECHO: "He had gone round to his friend's house in Moreton on Saturday, and for absolutely no reason some 26-year-old man has just punched him in the face.

"He just walked into the house with his friend to have a good time and was attacked by a fully grown man. He has been really shaken up since it happened, I had to keep him off school on Monday, and I've been onto the police everyday trying to get something done."

Milo's dad, who walked his son round to his friend's house, rushed inside to help after hearing the commotion from outside.

Kayla added: "His dad heard crying from inside the house and just got him out of there, he was crying and his face was all red and swollen, it was horrible. I can't believe people can go around physically punching children in the face, and as far as I'm aware the man hasn't even been questioned by police yet."

Mum Kayla, angry at seeing her son hurt, added that she wanted to go and confront the attacker herself but opted to contact police instead.

She added: "I wanted to go down there and confront them but I thought the police would be a better route. He is still shaken up and scared but we got him back into school on Tuesday for some sense of normality."

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We are appealing for information following a report of an assault in Moreton.

"At around 2pm on Saturday November 19, we received a report that an 11-year-old boy had been punched once in the face by an unknown male. The victim suffered bruising to his face.
