School Closures In Florida And Georgia Due To Hurricane Debby

Florida universities closed on Monday: FSU, FAMU, UF, UNF, USF.

School systems in Florida and Georgia are taking precautionary measures ahead of Hurricane Debby's anticipated landfall. The Florida Department of Education has announced closures for several universities in Florida on Monday, including Florida State University, Florida A&M University, University of Florida, University of North Florida, and University of South Florida.

Additionally, approximately two dozen K-12 school systems in Florida have also decided to close on Monday, with notable closures from Duval County Public Schools and Leon County Schools.

Meanwhile, in Georgia, several school systems have followed suit in announcing closures. Savannah-Chatham County Public School System will operate on a half-day schedule on Monday and remain closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Long County Schools have taken a more cautious approach by delaying school operations until Thursday due to the impending storm.

Furthermore, higher education institutions in Georgia are also taking necessary precautions. Savannah State University and Georgia Southern University have both suspended their operations in light of the approaching hurricane.

As Hurricane Debby continues to pose a threat to the region, these school closures aim to ensure the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff. It is advised that residents stay informed about the storm's progress and adhere to any evacuation orders or safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
