Jeffrey Schlupp was Celtic's only deadline day addition, with the versatile Crystal Palace player penning a loan deal until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
The focus from most Hoops supporters appeared to be on the club's search, and ultimate failure, to bring in a replacement for star striker Kyogo Furuhashi as the clock ticked towards the winter transfer window closing.
However, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers believes Schlupp, who was a Premier League winner in 2016 and has amassed well over 400 appearances throughout his career, will provide his squad with much needed competition and cover in several positions.
Rodgers allowed loan full-back Alex Valle to return to Barcelona early, while Celtic were unable to bring forward the deal that will see Kieran Tierney join the club in the summer.
Asked what the former Leicester City favourite will bring to Celtic, Rodgers said: "Well, I think firstly his mentality will fit in with the culture here.
"I've never worked with Jeffrey before, but I've come across him. Obviously, he came through at Leicester City as a young player and won the league there.

"The guys I remember speaking to at that time talked about what a good guy he was and what a fantastic player he was. He was multifunctional for them. Incredible pace and power.
"Obviously, he moved on to Crystal Palace. And you can see, when he played there a lot of the times in my latter stages there at Leicester, he was a central midfield player. Played in there and played very well.
"So, I think what he comes in as, he offers a great option for us in a couple of positions.
"Greg [Taylor] has been brilliant for us this season, but like all the other players, probably when I look back, we didn't bring in a left-back to cover him last season. I went with Scales as a cover left-back, but I just felt that I didn't want to take that risk this January.
"So, we bring him in, his attributes, he's naturally left-sided. Physicality is really good. He's Premier League physicality, running power, touching the ball and, of course, like I say, the experience.
"He's really excited about being here and I'm looking forward to spending the next four months with him."
Celtic host Dundee on Wednesday night in a rearranged Scottish Premiership fixture, and Rodgers is confident that his newest recruit will be involved.
"Hopefully, he will be," he insinuated. "He's ready to go. A really good level of fitness and, like I said, he'll really enjoy playing at this club."

After sealing his temporary switch to Parkhead on Monday, Schlupp said: “I am really happy to join Celtic, such a massive and iconic name in football.
“I have spoken to Brendan, and I am really looking forward to working with him and the lads in the squad as we aim to bring more silverware to our supporters.
“The team has already done brilliantly this season, both domestically and in Europe, and I know I am joining a really successful team, but I want to add to this, to play my own part and help us achieve even more.
“I can’t wait to get started, to pull on those famous green and white hoops, meet the fans and give everything I have to bring us more and more good times.”
