'Scary' video of 'lost' Joe Biden appearing to ask audience for directions at UN speech

A clip of Joe Biden following a speech at the UN appears to show the American president getting lost and asking the audience for directions.

Biden, 79, was walking from the stage following his speech at the Global Fund Conference as applause erupted.

As the president exits the stage, he appears to stop in his tracks before peering around looking a little confused.

Biden then briefly speaks to people in the audience before taking a few further steps.

Many described the scene as worrying, with critics saying Biden appears "lost".

Texas Senator Ted Cruz said the incident was "terrifying" on Twitter, with Cruz's communications adviser Steve Guest tweeting: "Joe Biden is completely lost on stage. Scary and sad."

As Biden leaves the stage, a man then enters and takes to the microphone to thank the President for his words.

The president then appears further confused as he turns after a few steps to look back at the speaker.

On Sunday during his 60 Minutes interview, Biden shot down suggestions he was too old or unfit to run again in 2024 - and said 'watch me'.

Last month, Biden has raised more fears about his health as he seemed to try to shake hands with a senator seconds after the pair had already done so.

The 79-year-old was attending the signing ceremony for the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 outside the White House.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer shook hands with the leader of the free world first, before turning to the other attendees, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

But as Chuck warmly greeted everyone else, President Biden seemed confused as he held out his hand for a second handshake for several seconds.

When it did not appear he instead stroked his chin, seemingly believing he had been ignored by Schumer as he started to address the crowd.

Despite the concerns, many people put forward they believed the president was gesturing at the podium ahead of Schumer’s speech.

One said: “He wasn't going to shake his hand again, he was gesturing towards the podium.

“Something is so deeply wrong with you guys.”
