Scarlett Moffatt has urged social media users to take care when posting where they are after a man tried to kidnap her at King’s Cross train station in London on Wednesday night.
The former Gogglebox star and I’m A Celebrity winner, 31, was in tears as she recounted on Instagram Stories how she was approached by a stranger at the station after she had posted earlier that she was on her way to the capital.
The man said he had been waiting for the Geordie TV favourite and asked her several times if she was coming home with him.
“Firstly I want to say a massive thank you to Neil and Danny who work for LNER, because it isn’t in your job description to walk me all the way to my hotel and I really, really appreciate it,” she began.
“I’m going to tag LNER so that they can see this because honestly, I don’t know what I would have done without you.”
Stating that she was posting the clip as a warning and not for attention, she continued: “I’m doing this so that people realise the importance of using social media and not always posting where you are.
“I stupidly, naively posted on Instagram saying, ‘Off to London on the train’ and when I got into King’s Cross station there was a guy there.”
After stopping her recording to compose herself, Moffatt then detailed her interactions with the stalker.
“This guy came at me and was saying ‘Scarlett, I’ve been waiting for you. Are you coming home with me?’”
“I said, ‘No thank you” and walked off. And then he followed me.”
Scarlett was full of praise for her saviours Neil and Danny and dithered over whether or not she should share a picture of them as she then feared it could give away the hotel that she was staying at.
She finished her teary video by imploring her Instagram followers to be vigilant when it comes to sharing their location online.
“I’ve never even thought of this before,” she added. “Please people, be careful what you’re posting.”

The British Transport Police said they were not aware of a report to them of the incident.
