Scarlett Moffat has opened up on how she met her police partner Scott Dobinson after the pair welcomed their first child together.
The Gogglebox star has opened up on the pair's dramatic history, just two days after welcoming their new son into the world. The new mum spoke on how a 999 call brought them together and how things weren't always rosy for the new mum and dad.
Sharing the news with her 2.4 million Instagram followers on Thursday, Scarlett shared snaps of her little bundle joy, who arrived five weeks early - but all are doing well with both parents "ready to burst".
She wrote: “Jude Xavier Dobinson, My darling boy I can’t stop crying looking at you as I can’t quite believe you’re mine. You wanted to meet us early at just 35 weeks. Me & your daddy love you so much that I can’t even put this feeling into words.
“Our heart and soul feels complete & ready to burst. I will forever and always be grateful to be your mammy…”
This new and glorious chapter in their lives may not have come about had it not been for Scarlett making a 999 call about a suspicious character lurking in her front garden. Although they had known each other for years, it wasn’t until The I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here winner called the police about seeing a stranger outside taking photos.
As reported by the Mirror, Scarlett discussed the serendipitous moment that led to their blossoming relationship, saying: "Scott came to the house. My friend was in the house with me at the time and I was like, 'He's so fit, I really fancy him'.
"She said, 'Why don't you just comment on a picture on Facebook?' So I commented on a picture of him and his dog Toby and put, 'Ah, cute... and the dog'."
They quickly began chatting but it wasn’t completely plain sailing for the couple, as Scarlett admitted that Scott took a long time to ask her out. Discussing their first date, the Gogglebox star said: “Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong.
The place we were going to eat at wasn't open and he made a joke about taking me to McDonald's which I didn't know was a joke. He told me I reminded him of Albert Einstein, so I was like, ‘Nah, I think we’re just best as friends’.
"It was my mam that went, ‘I’ve got a good feeling, I think you should give him another chance’ – so I’m pleased she did. With Scott, obviously I fancy him, but he’s just a lovely person. It’s taken me a while to get used to not having drama."
The pair continued to go from strength to strength but in 2021, just as they were about to move into their dream home, Scarlett broke the sad news to her followers that the couple had called it quits.
The post, which was quickly deleted, is reported to have read: "Unfortunately me and Scott are no longer together. Nothing major has happened, it’s just one of those sad things.
I’m going to stay positive for the future and if this lockdown has taught me anything it’s to grab life by the horns as life’s far too short." Obviously the split didn’t stick and Scarlett later blamed it on the stress of moving house.
Shortly after the break-up announcement, she posted an honest clip from bed beside Scott, telling fans: "For anybody moving house, I think I speak on behalf of me and Scott, it's very stressful. It is very stressful."
She went on: "I never thought it would be this stressful. I thought it would be fun. I do like the decorating part but the actual getting a house sorted and DIY and all that stuff isn't the best, but if anybody ever needs any tips on how to stay calm whilst moving..."
Scott then added, "don't ask us," before the pair burst into laughter.
Congratulations again to Scarlett and Scott!
