Tomas Lezana has left the Scarlets.
The Argentina international is set to take up a contract with French side Montauban, bringing an end to a two-season stay at Parc y Scarlets.
The 29-year-old leaves having made 19 appearances for the Scarlets, scoring three tries, since his debut against Leinster in Dublin in 2021.
Lezana has joined up with the Pro D2 side this week as a 'medical joker', and his departure is set to leave another hole in Dwayne Peel's back row options.
Head coach Peel said: “We’d like to thank Tomás for his efforts as a Scarlet over the last couple of seasons. We wish him well with his move to France.”
The announcement, which arrived on Monday morning, comes a month after fellow back rower Blade Thomson confirmed his retirement from professional rugby, while number eight Sinoe Kalamafoni has also confirmed he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Like Lezana, Kalamafoni is also set to head to France, and Peel now faces a sizeable rebuilding job ahead of next season. Prop Javan Sebastian will also leave for Edinburgh.
Speaking previously after Kalamafoni's impending departure was announced, Peel suggested the Scarlets will go forward with the other back row options they have in the squad, including youngster Carwayn Tuipulotu.
"I'm comfortable with Josh (Macleod), and Caz (Carwyn Tuipulotu) while we also saw Ben Williams against Edinburgh," he said.
"I think they are three players who could fill that void. I'm comfortable with those three as things stand.
"We are not planning to bring someone external in to replace Sione specifically is the truth.
"There are areas we are looking to recruit from the outside but not that position.
"There's a couple of areas where I think we need a bit of depth. We will look at those areas especially in the forward pack."
