Scale of Celtic Trongate title party outlined in breathtaking drone footage

Breathtaking drone footage has revealed the true scale of the Celtic title party in Glasgow.

Thousands of jubilant supporters descended on Trongate in the city centre after Brendan Rodgers' side lifted the Scottish Premiership title trophy.

Yesterday, we revealed supporters scaled buildings, traffic lights and bus stops during the packed unofficial title party.

Now, drone footage has been shared online showing the incredible scale of the celebrations with streets closed due to rammed streets in the Merchant City.

A video posted on TikTok, by MD.DRONE, captured footage from under the railway bridge along the packed Trongate road and pavements.

The short video showed green and orange smokebombs being set off and supporters waving Celtic flags in the celebrations which extended to Chisholm Street.

Fireworks could also be heard being set off in the flowing drone footage as supporters celebrated the title success in the baking heat.

Despite the joyous scenes as supporters packed the streets, Glasgow City Council condemned the "damage, disruption and antisocial behaviour" during the celebrations.

A spokesperson said: “As crowds began to disperse last night, they left a substantial amount of litter, debris and broken glass in a wide area around Glasgow Cross.

“After an exceptional clean-up effort by our teams overnight, the area is now clear – including the course for the Cancer Research UK Race for Life, which is taking place this morning.

“There has been damage to infrastructure such as bus stops and traffic signals, but we do not yet know the full extent of what repairs will be necessary.

“This kind of damage, disruption and antisocial behaviour remains unacceptable. It should be possible to celebrate and show a basic level of consideration for others in the city at the same time.”
