A scaffolder who was left paralysed after a freak trampoline accident has tragically died. Rob Harcourt sadly passed away yesterday with his mum and girlfriend by his side, Birmingham Live reports.
The 37-year-old was visiting a friend's house when he fell in the garden, causing him to dislocate his neck and kink his spinal cord. He was immediately rushed to hospital where he suffered a cardiac arrest and later spent weeks in intensive care, unable to breath on his own.
In a tragic update posted yesterday afternoon, his mum Jackie Graves said: "My clever, funny, kind and beautiful son Rob has passed away in mine and Jade's arms. Jimmy was with us too, holding his hand.
Heartbroken doesn't touch how we are feeling right now." Rob's brother Alan previously said: "I’m afraid we have some really really sad news. The consultants have today (August 20) confirmed that Rob will not recover.
"His close friends and family have been invited to say their goodbyes. The doctors will then remove his tracheotomy and he will pass peacefully surrounded and wrapped in love by his first and last love - his mum and his partner.
"Our thoughts are with Rob Jackie and Jade. Please keep them in your prayers". His mum had previously said: "Because of the GoFundMe and the generosity of everybody, Jade has been able to focus on what she needs to do to get through each day.
"[She does not] have to worry about where the money for the rent is coming or money for the electric. It's given her a little bit of breathing room to be able to focus on what she needs to do to be there for Rob and support herself and get herself through it."
