The Minnesota Vikings in mock drafts feel like Oprah shouting at us saying “You get a cornerback! You get a cornerback! You get a cornerback!” It’s hard to blame anyone for putting cornerback to the Vikings at 23rd overall.
The Vikings have been mocked 11 different cornerbacks for a total of 68 selections. That continued with the latest mock draft from J.P. Acosta of SB Nation.
Acosta has the Vikings selecting Clark Phillips III from Utah. It’s become a popular selection for the Vikings and it’s easy to see why. Here is what my scouting report on Phillips III says on what Phillips is.
“Despite being a smaller cornerback, Phillips III has no issue getting physical with receivers. His real forte is his quickness and recognition skills. Phillips III has very quick feet and fluid hips to stay with the receiver. Phillips III makes it hard for receivers to stack him with his quickness and good long speed.”
Phillips III is going to be a diverse cornerback that can do a little bit of everything and it’s going to matter when it comes to April’s draft.
