Savvy workers are taking 12 days of holidays - using just three days of annual leave

Sometimes, a week in the sun just doesn't feel like enough, and it can feel a little bleak to return to rainy Britain when you've only just gotten yourself settled into a life of sangria and afternoon swims.

Of course, getting enough time off work to spend a good couple of weeks away on holiday can be a tricky one to run past your line manager, especially when everyone else on your team is clamouring for time off over the summer.

However, with working from home having become far more common in recent times, some people will have a little more flexibility when it comes to staying in their dream villa for an extra few days.

As previously reported by The Sun, travel company On the Beach claims to have noticed a rise in holidaymakers taking full advantage of their home working days, in an apparent bid to stretch one-week beach breaks to a full 12 days.

The online travel agent has reported a 44 per cent increase among customers booking 12-night breaks, catching Thursday night flights, and returning on Tuesday mornings.

With plenty of hotels and Airbnbs offering decent Wifi, many workers may well find they can work just as well in Spain or Greece as they can at home, with the added bonus of an ocean view.

Chief Customer Officer at On the Beach, Zoe Harris, said: “We're seeing more people than ever using their Working from Home flexibility to Work from Holiday.

"With a number of hotels having business facilities and super fast free wifi, we're expecting to see more people enjoy longer breaks where they can do a mix of working and holidaying.”

Of course, this sort of set-up may not go down well with everyone's boss, so it's probably best to double-check your company's working from home policy before packing your bikini.
