Savvy shopper's nifty 20p cleaning hack that will banish rust from your home

Many homeowners will agree, that once you spot some rust beginning to form on any of your furniture, then it usually signals the beginning of the end.

Well, according to one savvy homeowner, it doesn't have to be, as they have shared one nifty and cheap cleaning hack that will bring any piece of furniture back to life - and it involves one common household product that nearly everyone has.

Posting to the popular Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Group on Facebook, the homeowner shared how a simple roll of tinfoil can bring any rust stained furniture back from the brink of needing to be replaced.

A roll of tinfoil currently costs around 15p-20p per metre in most supermarkets, meaning it is much cheaper than purchasing cleaning products and replacing your rust-stained items.

Posting two pictures side by side, they shared how wetting a rolled up ball of tinfoil helped them to scrub their aluminium shower shelves into a sparkling transformation.

Sharing the before and after photos, she said: "If you have chrome soap/bottle holder in your bath/shower instead of buying cleaning spray if they are rusty just roll some tinfoil into a ball wet it and scrub. Works a treat.

"Edit changed photo so you can see the before and after on the same shelf."

With the snaps showing how easy it was to revive rust-stained furniture without needing to replace it, the cleaning hack understandably went down well with impressed members of the group.

"Fab tip. I recently did the same thing on my bathroom radiator. It looks so much better", raved one user.
