Savvy McDonald's customer explains why you should never bin your receipt

After paying for your food at McDonald's and receiving your order, the receipt you were given is likely the last thing on your mind - you're too busy drooling over your nuggets or Big Mac.

But when you sit down to tuck into your meal, make sure you've put your receipt somewhere safe as it could come in handy in the future.

A savvy McDonald's fan has taken to social media to share why it is you should keep hold of your old receipts, reports Manchester Evening News.

The woman explained all in a post on the popular money saving Facebook group, Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.

She told members of the group that the receipt has some valuable information on the bottom - a unique survey code, which can be used to get a Big Mac and fries for £1.99 - saving you £2.29.

Her post read: "MCDONALD'S HACK. Don’t throw your receipt and use it for the discount.

"I always keep Mcd receipts in my wallet for use it in the future.

"Doing the survey doesn't take more than 2 mins.

The woman continued: "£1.99 for Big Mac + medium Fries (yes you have option to change the burger). Sometimes I change it to Quarter Pounder.

"Big Mac + Fries without receipt= £3.09 + 1.19 = £4.28. With receipt = £1.99 You save £2.29

"If you and your partner use same hack (yes you need two receipts on separate orders) you can save £2.29 x 2 = £4.58. Enjoy!!"

So handy to know! Make sure to save those pennies.

This comes after McDonald's fans shared a 'genius' hack on TikTok for milkshakes.

The woman, who posts under the name @ellbrxo, showed how you can make a drink that tastes similar to something you might find at Costa or Starbucks - for less.

All you have to do is head to your local McDonald's and order a vanilla milkshake and a shot of espresso.

Then you pour the coffee into the milkshake and give it a stir with your straw.

@ellbrxo shared a video of herself mixing up the drink, captioning the post "thank us later".
