Savvy Dublin shoppers find €7 Dunnes Stores hack to stay warm and avoid putting heating on

Some Irish people have found a savvy and budget-friendly hack that may help you put off turning the heat on.

As the days start to get colder, many people are reluctant to put on the heat due to rising bills.

However, this has left people looking for alternative ways to stay warm, including using one item from Dunnes Stores.

People on the streets of Dublin admitted that they are fearful of just how high their bills may rise. Others said that they would have no choice but to heat their home.

One man said: “I'm waiting until it gets really cold to use the heating. We don't put it on at all at night. We're afraid of the bills."

Another woman told Dublin Live : “We're holding off as long as we can. We never put it on until the beginning of October. We haven't lit a fire or put the heating on yet. We bought the coal before the price went up so we're well prepared."

One woman said she has no choice but to turn on her heating: "I have put it on. I'm 72 years-old. Do you think I can do without my heat. I can't."

A common answer from a number of Dubliners, however, was that they will keep the heat off for the moment and use hot water bottles instead, Dublin Live reports.

One savvy person said: “Heating is way too expensive now so what we're doing is just using hot water bottles to try and keep the heat off. It's working for now but we still haven't hit the proper winter months yet. We'll see how we are in December."

Hot water bottles are available in the likes of Dunnes Stores for €7, with cheaper options out there too.
