Savvy Argos shoppers hail '1p a night alternative to putting heating on'

The cost of living crisis continues with bills soaring for everyone across the UK.

Because of this, people are trying to cut down how much they spend such as on their shopping. Not only that, they are also looking at what appliances to switch off at the wall when not in use in a bid to avoid even higher bills.

And while many have opted not to turn the heating on amid the upcoming energy price cap increase on October 1, others have turned to a blanket that is said to already be saving them on their energy bills.

Taking to Argos' website, many shoppers have been hailing their 'Slumberdown Essential Warmth Underblanket' which starts at just £20 for a single whilst a double costs just a fiver more taking it to £25.

After purchasing the blanket, people have been giving nothing but good feedback with one review titled 'Excellent alternative to putting the heating on' catching the eyes of those also looking for more options.

The recent purchaser of the double under blanket, which as reported by Nottinghamshire Live, claims to run from just 1p per night, said: "Excellent alternative to putting the heating on". In an online review, they said: "I'm really glad I purchased this because I'll never have to get in bed and feel cold sheets again."

They continued: "On the lowest setting it just takes the chill off and makes you feel nice and cosy. It doesn't cover the entire surface of the bed and I would like it to be slightly longer so that the control was higher up and fully under the pillow but it is on the side so I don't lie on it. The straps mean that it fits securely to the bed under the sheet and there is no movement."

This is one of the cheapest on the Argos site with prices varying by size and manufacture right up to a £140 king size Dreamland Organic dual control electric blanket.

Another purchaser gave it a five star rating writing: "Wonderful. Had a cheeky test out the other night! Glorious! Will be a life saver if we have a chilly winter!!"

Another review added: "I've bought this blanket ready for this winter, the one that I've got (it's the same one) I've had for 3 years, it's still working, but because I'm disabled I have to spend a lot of time in bed and want a backup one. This blanket is brilliant."

Argos describes the under blanket as just the product to "keep your toes toasty". It says the blanket has three settings so that "you can achieve the perfect temperature for your cosy cocoon to curl up in." Adding: "Conveniently, it's machine washable and has low energy consumption with auto shut off, giving you peace of mind."

The blanket has a two year manufacture's guarantee, and features that include a 5-minute heat-up time, overheat protection and is suitable for all night use."
