Save money with Diwali deals from Morrisons including discounts on naan, samosas and vegan sweets

Diwali is peeking around the corner which means now is the time to start shifting gears and preparing for your Diwali feast. This year Diwali falls on Monday October 24, giving you just a few days to decide on what you will be serving when you play host with the most during the festival of light.

Morrisons has some cracking Diwali deals that could save you money this year. Available in-store and online, savings on customer favourites and the addition of brand-new products may help elevate your menu to the next level.

The supermarket chain says you can save 38% off KTC cupboard staples when you buy any five items from the range. This means you can mix and match from chickpeas, red kidney beans, chilli beans, Italian plum peeled tomatoes and Italian chopped tomatoes.

This is especially good news if you plan on making a thali which is popular during festivals. A thali is a large platter consisting of smaller bowls nestled on it, for a very special meal.

To avoid making chapatis from scratch, you could save time, money and effort with The Clay Oven bakery naans. Cook them in around 90 seconds by giving them a quick blast under your grill.

Morrisons say their discount on naan is 19%, meaning the Diwali price is £1.09 instead of the usual £1.39. There is also a range of frozen parathas including garlic, onion, lacha and plain versions for those who love a good laminated-style side.

It is not just Diwali that people will be celebrating with good food, drink and fireworks. Saal Mubarak or New Year is usually a few days' after Diwali, so in the UK it will be observed on Wednesday October 26.

If you are planning on having family and friends round for the New Year, then you may want to stock up on snacks. Morrisons have a number of brand-new products to make your party all the more special.

Pimlico Diwali mixes which are moreish gummie sweets are a good choice for those who are vegan, as traditional mithai or Indian sweets are usually made with butter and milk. Another snack, this time savoury, which is a novel idea is a sharer bag of popped lotus seeds for £1.50.

These seeds are a versatile and delicious ingredient and will make a change from chowing down on nuts and crisps. Here is a list of highlights that could see you spend a little less this Diwali.
