The Western Fleet's Red Wave-5 exercise, carried out by the Royal Saudi Naval Forces, concluded on Thursday, reported the Saudi Press Agency on Friday
The drill was held with the participation of the Red Sea coastal countries of Djibouti, Egypt, Jordan, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, as well as the Royal Saudi Land Forces, Royal Saudi Air Forces and Saudi Border Guard.
Commander of the Western Fleet Rear Admiral Yahya bin Mohammed Asiri, who also led the drill, said the forces were trained on carrying out a number of combat moves, such as the clearance of fortified locations and live fire shooting with the support of combat aircraft.
He said the drill aimed at boosting military cooperation, raising the combat preparedness and exchanging of experience that would help upgrade security abilities to protect the seas and regional and international water passages and safeguard maritime navigation in the Red Sea.
