Several people were injured when a tourist bus carrying 23 Saudis overturned in the Black Sea region of northern Türkiye.

The bus overturned after hitting a concrete barrier on the side of the road in an agricultural area in Asmali Yarmak village.

In a statement, the Saudi embassy said that it was closely following up with the concerned Turkish authorities and the general consulate in Istanbul on the condition of the injured.

Ramzan Yanik, an official in Asmali Yarmak, said that the driver used the brakes excessively on a slope, causing the bus to overturn after hitting a concrete barrier on the right side.

He added that 23 passengers were rescued from the bus and the injured were rushed to the hospital after receiving first aid.

On Saturday, Türkiye witnessed two other horrific traffic accidents, which killed at least 34 people, and injured 50 others. The two incidents occurred in Gaziantep and Mardin, in southeastern Turkey.

The first accident resulted from a collision between an ambulance and a bus on a highway linking the city of Gaziantep with Nizib, killing 15 people and injuring 31 others, according to Gaziantep Governor Daoud Gul.

A few hours later, 19 people lost their lives and 26 others were injured in Derik town in Mardin state, when a semi-trailer truck crashed into emergency service personnel and other individuals gathered near a fuel station, killing at least 16 people and injuring 29 others.

The workers were reportedly responding to a separate accident when the semi-trailer truck hit them and others in the area.
