Saudi officials have arrived in Iran to discuss procedures for reopening Riyadh's embassy in Tehran and consulate in Mashhad after China brokered a deal to restore relations between the two countries, the Saudi foreign ministry said on Saturday.
The meeting also follows up on discussions between Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Beijing on Thursday.
The Saudi technical team is headed by Nasser bin Awad Al-Ghannoum. It met with head of ceremonies at the Iranian foreign ministry in Tehran.
The Saudi delegation thanked the Iranians for their warm reception, while the hosts said Iran was prepared to offer all facilitations to ensure the success of the team’s mission.
