The Saudi government underscored on Tuesday the Kingdom’s keenness on bolstering and developing its relations with “friendly and sisterly” countries, to reinforce its standing and regional and international role.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held in Jeddah.

The ministers hailed the outcomes of the meeting held between Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who paid a visit to the Kingdom last week.

Saudi and Uzbek officials signed a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding during his trip.

The cabinet was also briefed on the telephone talks between Crown Prince Mohammed and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz last week.

The cabinet highlighted the Kingdom’s progress in the education, research, and innovation indicators, revealed by the World Competitiveness Yearbook 2022 report.

Issued by the Global Competitiveness Center of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), the results are a reflection of the Saudi leadership’s support for the education sector at all levels.

The Kingdom’s ranking jumped to the 24th position in the report, compared to 32 in 2021. It advanced four positions in the education indicator, bringing the Kingdom to the 37th position compared to 41 last year.
