The transfer of superstar Brazilian winger Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal has officially been completed, per an announcement from the club on Tuesday morning.
The club released a 70-second teaser during which they confirmed the capture of the 31-year-old on a two-year deal which is reportedly extremely lucrative.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Neymar’s deal with Al Hilal is worth $300 million over two seasons and could potentially reach a value of as much as $400 million, when financials from performance based add-ons and commercial deals are tacked on.
Neymar reportedly underwent medical tests at the club on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s official announcement. In exchange for the talented winger, PSG are set to receive a transfer fee worth just under $100 million.
Neymar exits PSG having featured in 112 league matches across six seasons in the French capital. He scored 82 goals and assisted on 48. In the Champions League, the shifty winger added 22 goals and 16 assists across 41 appearances.
There had been reports of a potential reunion with Barcelona for Neymar, but it seems he was swayed, like others during this transfer window, to join the Saudi Pro League.
At Al Hilal, Neymar will join a slew of former European standouts, including ex-Chelsea defenseman Kalidou Koulibaly, former Wolves midfielder Rúben Neves, ex-Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinković-Savić, former Porto striker Moussa Marega and former Barcelona and Zenit Saint Petersburg forward Malcom.
