The Saudi government stressed on Tuesday the importance of the security of global energy supplies and economic development.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the government meeting that was held in Jeddah.

Saudi Arabia had underscored the importance of securing energy supplies before the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) Ministerial Meeting.

The Kingdom’s speech at the event also underlined the importance of tackling the challenges of climate change and called for the use of the large and growing international pool of funds to finance just green transitions.

King Salman highlighted the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage, saying God almighty had blessed the Kingdom with serving the pilgrims.

Saudi Arabia works tirelessly in serving the pilgrims and it will continue to proudly carry out this duty, he added.

He ordered concerned state agencies to carry out the organizational and operational plans related to this year’s holy pilgrimage, which is set to welcome the greatest number of pilgrims since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

King Salman briefed the ministers on the message he sent to Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa and the message he received from Kuwait Crown Prince Mishal Al Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah.

Acting Media Minister Dr. Majid al-Qasabi said the cabinet reviewed the outcomes of the visit carried out by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, to Egypt, Jordan and Turkey last week.

His talks focused on the need to combat climate change and terrorism and extremism in all their forms. Officials he met stressed their support to Saudi Arabia in all the measures it takes to protect its national economy and stability.

Crown Prince Mohammed’s talks also focused on bolstering economic partnership, trade and investment.

The cabinet reviewed the visit paid Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi to Saudi Arabia and the talks he held with Crown Prince Mohammed. Their meeting focused on bilateral relations and aspects of cooperation. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments.
