Saudi Arabia Announces Return of Ambassador to Lebanon

The Saudi foreign ministry said the Kingdom made the decision after the “calls and appeals of the moderate national political forces in Lebanon”

Saudi Arabia announced Thursday the return of its ambassador back to Lebanon.

The Saudi foreign ministry said the Kingdom made the decision after the “calls and appeals of the moderate national political forces in Lebanon.”

The Kingdom also said Lebanon had agreed to “stop all political, military and security activities affecting” it and other Gulf Arab nations.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, in a Twitter post welcoming the move, said Lebanon was "proud of its Arab affiliation and upholds the best relations with Gulf states", describing them as pillars of support.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued a statement similar to Saudi Arabia.

Mikati's office said Kuwait's envoy would return before the end of the week.
