The Saudi government reiterated on Tuesday the Kingdom’s stance in support of Iraq as it seeks to preserve its security and sovereignty.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held in Riyadh.

The government renewed the Kingdom’s commitment to Iraq’s efforts to reclaim its historic standing and kick off a new phase that prioritizes national interests above all else. The Kingdom had declared this stance at last week’s Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership that was hosted by Jordan.

The cabinet was briefed on the talks held between Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, with Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in Riyadh last week.

Their talks focused on the close relations between their countries and ways to develop them in all fields. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments.

Acting Media Minister Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi said the cabinet welcomed the adoption of the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention by the First Ministerial Meeting of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Agencies of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The convention aims to boost cooperation and help in preventing crimes of corruption.

The ministers highlighted Saudi Arabia’s ranking first among donor countries in offering official development assistance (humanitarian and development) in 2021. The ranking is based on data published by the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The ranking reflects the Kingdom’s historic approach in helping those in need across the globe.
