Saudi Arabia condemned “provocative actions” by an Israeli official who stormed the Al-Aqsa mosque compound on Tuesday, the country's foreign ministry said in a statement.
“The foreign ministry expresses the condemnation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of the provocative action by an Israeli official who stormed the Al-Aqsa mosque compound,” the statement said.
It voiced regret at the practices of the Israeli authorities, which it said undermine international peace efforts and violate international norms and principles of respecting religious sanctities.
It underlined Saudi Arabia’s firm stance in standing by the Palestinian people and all efforts aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and reaching a lasting and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
The solution must allow the Palestinian people to establish their independent state according to the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
