Saturday Night Takeaway game goes wrong as fans complain and demand 'justice' as neighbour caught up in show

It's a highlight of Saturday Night Takeaway and hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly had viewers in stitches as the popular segment Ring My Bell made a chaotic comeback. In the game the popular duo give neighbours 45 seconds to get to a front door and declare "ring my bell" if they recognise it as belonging to an audience member.

Audience members stand up to shout “Ding Dong! That’s my Doorbell!”, prompting the nearby neighbours to sprint to their house for the chance to speak to Ant and Dec through the doorbell camera on the live show. Participants are asked to bring an item with them.

But the hilarious game went wrong on Saturday night (April 1) as Ant and Dec tried to talk to a woman outside the house, called Cynthia, through the doorbell. When they asked if she had dirty laundry with her, which was their request for the game, she seemed puzzled and it was unclear if she was there for Ring My Bell or to visit her neighbour who confirmed from the audience that she knew her.

Other neighbours could then be seen rushing up behind Cynthia with the laundry as they tried to get past her to ring the bell, but she wouldn't budge. Despite Ant and Dec's pleas for her to move, she remained in front of the camera. "Cynthia move out of the way," begged Ant. And he declared jokingly: "This is chaos."

Ant then announced that the cash would be dished out, but declared "Cynthua wins nowt," leaving fans upset and calling for 'justice.' @lilysherf tweeted: "Cynthia just became a national legend." @Noahsmummy2017 asked: "Was Cynthia an April Fools on Ant and Dec." And @lmlykoo wrote: "Cynthia just became a national treasure and she doesn’t even know it."

@jo_madonna grumbled: "Ant & Dec Cynthia deserves £500 she was the best on Ring My Bell #SaturdayNightTakeaway Don't be tight man!!" And @Criticalpete1 said: "Cynthia won that. Ant and Dec talked over her."

@mojojen cried: "Justice for Cynthia! Give her the money!" And @itsbr0gan echoed: "Give Cynthia that money IMMEDIATELY justice for Cynthia."

Earlier in the series on the ITV entertainment show there were comical scenes and confusion as a group of people, all holding saucepans, turned up at a door but didnt' say "ring my bell." As Ant and Dec picked out a man at the front to claim the cash, he started to walk away until he was told to "get back."

"Get back! Where are you going? it's chaos," said Ant. And he explained: "If somebody says 'ring my bell' then you're going to win £500, say it."

But nobody did and instead they just held up their pans in triumph. This prompted Ant and Dec to tell them they'd all won and could split the cash.
