Saturday Night Takeaway fans in hysterics as Shrek falls off stage during Ant and Dec show

Saturday Night Takeaway fans were left in hysterics when Shrek fell over during the ITV show tonight.

Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly were back for the show this weekend, with their Happiest Minute of the Week segment always a fan favourite as people are given a once in a lifetime to bag a ticket to Orlando as part of the end of the series show.

The pair were quick to hand out a number of tickets to deserving audience members and some at home as well, as they were joined on stage by Shrek, Puss in Boots and a number of British Airways cabin crew.

However, as they finished their happiest minute and left stage, some fans spotted that the person in the Shrek costume had fallen off stage as they tried to make their exit, followed by Puss in Boots and the other characters.

Fans rushed to social media to check they were ok, as one wrote: "Omg ! Is Shrek ok @antanddec? Poor fella falling over after the happiest minute of the week @itvtakeaway #SaturdayNighttakeaway #isshrekok."

"Is Shrek ok? @antanddec #shrek #placeontheplane #saturdaynighttakeaway," a second added, with a third wrote: " @antanddec We need to know if Shrek is ok after his fall live on Saturday night takeaway @itv #Saturdaynighttakeaway."

Later, Stephen Mulhern confirmed that Shrek was ok as fans rushed to social media to share the clip.

"Funniest thing seeing Shrek fall off the stage on #SaturdayNightTakeaway," a fifth wrote, whilst a sixth penned: "Shrek falling over is the funniest thing I've seen all week. #SaturdayNightTakeaway."

In other scenes on the ITV show tonight, Nick accepted his stepdaughter Rihanna's offer to adopt her after being her father figure all her life following her father's passing. There wasn't a dry eye in the house and it was clear how much it meant to Nick, as he cried and said: "It means everything, she’s an absolute diamond. It’s priceless."
