Saturday Night Takeaway fans convinced Ant McPartlin was left 'fuming' after Jeremy Clarkson drink-drive conviction jibe

Saturday Night Takeaway viewers couldn't believe what they watched when it appeared that guest Jeremy Clarkson took a swipe at host Ant McPartlin over his drink-driving conviction.

The former Top Gear star appeared live from the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? studio on Saturday night to discuss the prank the Geordie duo played on him at the start of the new series of the ITV show.

But fans quickly commented on how "awkward" the atmosphere was when Jeremy was introduced to the show - and said: "Look it's the driver and his friend".

They were convinced it left Ant 'fuming', reports BirminghamLive.

The 46-year-old was fined £86,000 and disqualified from driving for 20 months after admitting to drink-driving in 2018.

Ant has previously opened up about his struggles with alcohol abuse, and has done stints in rehab.

While many fans believed he was taken aback by Jeremy referring to the incident, others thought there was a simple explanation.

Some said he could have just meant that Ant was the driver of the bulldozer - which dumped a load of soil on his Range Rover as part of the fake protest at Jeremy harming soil on his farm.

Megan added: "Did Jeremy really just say ‘the driver and his mate’ while on about Ant and Dec….. could feel the awkwardness through the tv #antanddec #SaturdayNightTakeaway."
