Saturday Kitchen turned into total chaos today as guest chef Alison Roman fell off her chair causing hysterics in the studio.
New-York based Alison had just made a raspberry ricotta cake and went to sit down with other guests at the table as the show moved on to Helen McGinn’s wine segment.
But the 37-year-old took an embarrassing tumble as she accidentally sat on the ‘wine table’ instead of her chair.
The camera cut to Helen talking about a sparkling rose before viewers heard an almighty thud.
Alison is heard saying: “Oh my God!” as a shocked Helen asked: “Are you alright?”
Seeing the funny side, a laughing Alison quickly got up after realising her mistake, telling host Matt Tebbutt: “That is not a chair!”
As the presenters struggled to contain their giggles, Matt asked: “Did you just sit on the wine table?”
“I did, I missed my chair,” Alison replied, looking a little red-faced, before adding: “We didn’t do that in rehearsal!”
Saturday Kitchen didn’t post a clip of the unfortunate incident on Twitter, but praised Alison for being “the ultimate chef’s kiss”.
Poking fun at the mishap, they added: “She is a marvel. And chairs are overrated Xxx.”
Fans were also left in hysterics, with many taking to Twitter to call it the “best episode ever”.
One wrote: “Poor @alisonroman fell on her arse on @SaturdayKitchen – instantly iconic!”
Another said: “@alisonroman literally going down in British TV history... #SaturdayKitchen #LEGENDARY Hope you’re ok Alison!”
“Possibly the funniest thing I’ve seen on Saturday morning TV since Tiswas was on our screens. Respect,” tweeted a third.
A fourth joked: “I shouldn’t laugh but watching Saturday Kitchen is like celebrating my 40th birthday again in 2 mins. Hope Alison is ok.”
Sharing a clip of Alison’s tumble, another Twitter user added: “A fall like this is usually AFTER the wine (It’s Alison Roman and she is okay) #SaturdayKitchen.
A sixth claimed host Matt should have been quicker to help Alison up, writing: “Matt loses a point for not being very chivalrous this morning. Was funny though.”
Later on in the show guests Alison, Helen, actress Nadia Wadia and chef Nathan Outlaw erupted into fits of giggles again as brewer Jaega Wise presented a beer segment.
As everyone took part in a tasting demonstration, they struggled to keep a straight face as Jaega said: “In beer it’s super important... we never spit, we always swallow.”
Host Matt stepped it to ask: “What’s happened?” before telling guests to “concentrate” as the segment descended into chaos.
“Oh my God this moment,” one viewer tweeted, while another said: “Hands down the best episode of #SaturdayKitchen ever... too many highlights to list #spitdontswallow.”
