Global DJ star Sasha is the next big name to be added to the line up of House of Barefoot which will be making its debut in Northumberland this summer, inviting fans to get up and close and personal with the music and offering, it says, "a full festival experience on an intimate scale".
The Grammy Award-nominee, who first burst onto the acid house scene in the early 1990s, will take to the stage with fellow dance music legend John Digweed on June 2, which kicks off the four-day Bank Holiday for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The three-day House of Barefoot, which is described as the first boutique dance music festival in the North East and will play out on a site at Reed Farm in Stamfordham, already has big names such as James Zabiela and Hernan Cattaneo on the line-up and the newly-announced additions are an extra boost for what organisers are aiming to be a world-class event with an intimate feel.
Sasha, who is credited with bringing DJing into the digital age - moving it on from the traditional turntable and mixer to live audio engineering equipment - has won awards for his pioneering DJ sets and remixes. He and John Digweed first joined forces in 1993, when acid house was at the height of its popularity, and they have since toured globally; getting together again in 2016 after a six-year hiatus.

Now fans can catch up with them on the first day of the festival which has tickets on sale now, with flexible payment options available to help make it affordable. Then the next day, June 3, it will be the turn of ‘El Maestro’ Hernan Cattaneo, described as South America’s most successful DJ, as well as Bristolian Nick Warren - who is also one half of electronic duo Way Out West - and Spanish selector Henry Saiz.

Tech-house icon James Zabiela and tech house DJ Danny Howells will wrap up the last day of the festival on June 4. Dance music fans can make the most of the festival atmosphere by camping out and organisers say they have limited the festival's capacity to ensure people can relax and unwind while still enjoying the main stage's club-like vibe. Festival director Jonny Stobart said: “You might expect to see a line up like this in cities like Berlin, New York, London and major festivals like Creamfields and Soundgarden with tens of thousands of people in attendance.
“Imagine a line-up like this with only 2000 capacity. This is exactly what we’ve created with House of Barefoot - we want to give people the opportunity to see some of the best DJs in the world in an intimate, relaxed atmosphere." As well as camping there will be pitches for caravans and motorhomes available on the site as well as glamping options, with access to showers.
The music stage is set to be kitted out with a state-of-the-art sound system and there will be plenty street food vendors and bars. For tickets to the June 2-4 festival and information about the flexible payment plan option see here.
