SAS Who Dares Wins set for 'sub-zero temperatures' in 2023 series

SAS: Who Dares Wins is looking to give contestants an even tougher challenge as show bosses aim to film in sub-zero climates.

The countdown is on for the new season of SAS: Who Dares Wins which airs in January, viewers can look forward to more details about another upcoming season in 2023. Season eight will see contestants thrown into challenges in a northern Vietnamese jungle but according to The Sun, producers are planning a ninth series in sub-zero conditions.

The Scottish Hebrides is the furthest north the series has ventured so far, before it then headed for the unforgiving terrain of Chile’s Andes mountains. The exact location for Season 9 is yet to be official decided, there are a number of countries reportedly in the running for filming.

Contestants will be plunged into freezing temperatures and "pushed closer to breaking point than ever before".

According to a TV insider speaking to The Sun: “The team wants to switch it up by taking recruits to a country which is very, very cold. Just being able to exist in the sub-zero temperatures will be hard enough — never mind taking on the brutal tasks like ice-water plunges, snow treks and endurance challenges."

This year’s series swept the challengers to the Jordanian desert, while the new edition set to air on Channel 4 this month, will take place in the Vietnamese jungle. The celebrity version, which will star TOWIE's James Argent and disgraced former Health Secret Matt Hancock, will follow later in the year.

The production teams and cast will then head out to the soon to be decided icy location. A TV insider said: “The team wants to switch it up by taking recruits to a country which is very, very cold.

“Just being able to exist in the sub-zero temperatures will be hard enough — never mind taking on the brutal tasks like ice-water plunges, snow treks and endurance challenges.

“There are a number of locations on the table and nothing is yet set in stone.”
