Sarina Wiegman yet to sign new England contract despite positive talks with FA

England manager Sarina Wiegman has held positive talks with the Football Association (FA) over a new contract, but she is yet to put pen to paper.

Wiegman took charge of the Lionesses in September 2021 and led them to Euro 2022 glory the following summer, beating Germany in the final at Wembley.

The FA are now looking to tie Wiegman down to a new contract, with her current deal due to expire in 2025.

Reports over the weekend claimed Wiegman had agreed fresh terms on a new deal but, speaking on Monday, she said: “No I haven’t signed a new contract.

“I am very happy with the contract I have. And yes we have had conversations, very good, and I feel very valued and we are all happy. So that is what it is and I hope we keep it that way and we keep performing well.

“I already have a contract until 2025 and we had good conversations. I feel very valued. We are in a very good place, but you know in football it can go very quickly.

“We have hopefully a couple of more tournaments until that time. It’s very comfortable at the moment and we are all happy. I am happy, the team is happy, the FA is happy and I just hope we will keep it that way.”
