Sarah Lancashire confirms Happy Valley future plans as Queen Consort tells her she's a huge fan

Happy Valley star Sarah Lancashire has confirmed that there will be “no season four” of the smash hit series. The 58-year-old actress, who first found fame on Coronation Street, was talking to Queen Consort Camilla at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, March 8.

Chatting at an International Women’s Day event, the royal told Sarah: “I'm so excited to meet you!” The Queen Consort then asked the actress a question about Happy Valley, which recently aired its series three finale on BBC One.

Sarah replied: “Well, there's no season four.” She could then be heard adding: “It’s the right thing to do.”

A video shared by The Daily Mail then saw the Queen Consort ask Sarah about her future plans. The actress revealed: “Well at the moment, I've just started to produce.”

The Queen Consort's lady-in-waiting joked that the series finale of Happy Valley had been “traumatic” but she too stressed that she was a huge fan of the show.“Well thank you very much indeed. I'm amazed you found time to watch,” Sarah replied before chuckling as the Queen Consort continued to shower her with praise.

Award-winning series Happy Valley focused on Sarah’s character Catherine Cawood as she navigated bringing up her grandson while keeping him away from the clutches of his rapist and murderer father, Tommy Lee Royce (James Norton).
