Sarah Ferguson breaks her silence after being snubbed for a Coronation invite

Sarah Ferguson has today broken her silence following reports that she has not been invited to the King's Coronation.

Prince Andrew's ex-wife will not make the guest list for the major event on May 6, it was reported last week.

It has been claimed that the King decided against inviting his former sister-in-law to the ceremony, despite her still sharing a home with his brother Andrew and seemingly being welcomed back into the royal fold.

Yesterday, Fergie, who was close to the late Queen and now looks after her corgis Sandy and Muick, posted a tweet with a link to a fundraiser by a friend of hers who has motor neurone disease.

She wrote: "This is my friend John Chart’s last trek. John, who suffers from #MotorNeuroneDisease, climbs Everest to raise awareness about MND and how more research is needed. Support John by donating to help find a cure & share."

She also shared photos and videos of her friend who is trying to reach Camp 1 on Everest to raise awareness of MND.

Last month while at an event in New York to promote her latest romance novel, Fergie was asked about her plans for the Coronation after admitting she had not yet received an invitation.

But she shrugged it off and told of what she will be doing instead if she is not picked to be inside Westminster Abbey.

She explained: "Well I've decided the best thing about being British around a coronation - although I've never been to one - I think we should, I should set up a tea room at the bottom of the drive with bunting and cakes."

According to The Independent, Fergie will have to watch proceedings from home with a source saying: "She has been hugely supportive of Charles and Camilla and does not want this to become about her.

"The whole day is about the new King and the success of his reign but she has always championed the royal family and the Queen undoubtedly would have wanted her to be there."
