Jared Verse has generated a ton of buzz around the NFL for his outstanding rookie campaign, but he made headlines for a very different reason on Friday. In an interview with the LA Times, Verse flat-out said he hates Eagles fans.
“I hate Eagles fans,” Verse said. “They’re so annoying. I hate Eagles fans.”
It’d be one thing to say that during the offseason, but calling out a rowdy fanbase like the Eagles’ just days before a playoff game may not be the most advisable move. Eagles running back Saquon Barkley sure doesn’t think it was a good idea.
He responded to Verse’s comments in the locker room on Friday, questioning why the rookie would fire up a fanbase that’s already one of the most passionate around.
“Probably not the smartest thing to say when you’re coming to Philadelphia,” Barkley said. “I’ve been on the other side and even if I felt some type of way, probably wouldn’t give them any extra fuel. Pretty sure Philly fans have seen that comment. It was already going to be loud and rocking, so it’s only going to add to it.”

Verse has shown time and time again that he’s not afraid to talk trash, no matter who’s on the receiving end. It could be an All-Pro tackle or an entire group of fans. He’s going to say what he thinks and how he feels, whether you like it or not.
As fired up as fans will be on Sunday, you can bet Verse will feed off the boos he’s inevitably going to hear. And he’s already getting an earful from Eagles fans on Instagram.
They’ve flooded the comments section of his posts with eagle emojis and “Fly Eagles Fly” GIFs, among other responses.
