Running back Saquon Barkley is the New York Giants’ nominee for the 2023 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, which recognizes a player for his impact on the community as well as his talents on the field.
“I understand that God has blessed me with an unbelievable talent and unbelievable opportunity to play in the National Football League and to be a person that a lot of kids look up to,” Barkley said, via Giants.com. “I want to make sure that with the time of me being in the NFL and on this earth, I try to make a change, try to make an impact on someone’s life and fulfill my purpose.”

All 2023 nominees will receive a $55,000 donation to the charity of their choice with the winner receiving a a $250,000 donation.
Barkley works closely with Covenant House New Jersey, Children of Promise NYC and co-founded the Michael Ann & Saquon Barkley Hope Foundation. He also regularly holds football camps for children in the New York/New Jersey areas.
Barkley and all 31 other nominees will wear a Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year helmet decal through the end of the season. The winner will be revealed on Thursday, February 8 at the NFL Honors.
Barkley seeks to join Eli Manning, who won the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in 2016 alongside Larry Fitzgerald.
