Saoirse Ruane's family described her recent confirmation as an "emotional rollercoaster" amid their daughter's ongoing cancer treatment.
The Toy Show star made her confirmation on Thursday surrounded by her family and friends. Her mother Roseanna revealed on Instagram that "plenty of tears" were shed as the poignant moment unfolded.
Saoirse is currently undergoing treatment at Crumlin Children's Hospital. The 11-year-old was diagnosed with a recurrent tumour in April after previously battling osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, which resulted in the loss of Saoirse's leg.

Saoirse's medical team permitted her to forgo treatment for the day so she could celebrate her big milestone. Roseanna also revealed that Saoirse had asked for a bouncy castle as part of the celebrations.
Roseanna wrote on Instagram: "We truly are blessed with family friends and neighbours who all made Saoirse's day so special on Thursday. We are very thankful to our team for allowing her to take a day off treatment in order to celebrate such a momentous occasion with her classmates."
The nation has rallied around Saoirse as she faces her recent health setback. Ryan Tubridy previously called on people to send their well-wishes to Saoirse via post, which saw the young girl receive countless supportive letters from the public.
