Finland’s prime minister Sanna Marin has denied taking drugs after a leaked video showed the politician partying.

In the footage, Ms Marin is seen dancing and singing with friends at a party also attended by artists, TV hosts, an MP, a celebrity stylist and a social media influencer, multiple reports state.

After the video and other clips emerged on social media, Finnish MP Mikko Karna, urged the prime minister to take a drug’s test.

Commenting on the video, 36-year-old Ms Marin who was once dubbed “the coolest prime minister in the world” by Bild, said she did not do anything wrong.

"I danced, sang, and partied - perfectly legal things. And I’ve never been in a situation where I’ve seen or known of others using drugs," Ms Marin said.

“I have a family life, I have a work life and I have free time to spend with my friends. Pretty much the same as many people my age."

Ms Marin also hit out at whoever published the video as it had been taken at a private event.

In December, Ms Marin was criticised for visiting a nightclub after coming into someone who tested positive for Covid.

Although she did not break any rules at the time, she later apologised.
