New Delhi: The Central Government on Monday appointed Senior IAS officer Sanjay Malhotra as the new Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
Currently, Malhotra is serving as Revenue Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. As revenue secretary, Malhotra handled tax policy relating to both direct and indirect taxes.
He will replace Shaktikanta Das
Malhotra, who belonged to 1990-batch IAS officer from the Rajasthan cadre, will be the 26th Governor of the RBI, succeeding Shaktikanta Das, whose term is set to end on Tuesday.

He to take charge on Dec 11
Malhotra will assume office on December 11, 2024 for a period of three years, according to a notification issued by the appointment committee of the cabinet on Monday.
Education
Sanjay Malhotra holds a degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and a master's in public policy from Princeton University.
