Kyler Murray is not the only star player absent for OTAs this week. San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel did not report for OTAs on Monday.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network was first to report the news early on Monday afternoon:
The #49ers begin OTAs today and star WR Deebo Samuel won’t be in attendance, source said. Not a surprise, as his situation remains unsettled.

Samuel and the 49ers have come to a stand-still over his tenure with the organization. The wide receiver requested a trade during the spring, reportedly due to his usage in Kyle Shanahan’s offense. A very talented player, there are a number of NFL offenses that could use his services next fall.
But a trade deal was not reached this spring, and while the New York Jets were reportedly in the mix for such a move, nothing has happened on the Samuel front. With the organization starting OTAs this week, it seems the receiver is not going to budge on his position.
