San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has been discharged from the hospital following a shooting incident during an attempted robbery. The team confirmed that Pearsall, who sustained a bullet wound in his chest, was released less than a day after the incident.
The 49ers organization expressed gratitude towards the San Francisco Police Department, emergency medical services, and the medical staff at San Francisco General Hospital for their swift response and care.
Pearsall, a rookie with the 49ers, was shot in the chest during the robbery in San Francisco. Fortunately, the bullet passed through his chest and exited his back without causing damage to any vital organs, as confirmed by his mother, Erin Pearsall.
Erin Pearsall shared an update on Facebook, thanking God for protecting her son and emphasizing the importance of cherishing life and showing love to one another. She requested prayers for Pearsall's recovery.
Video footage showed Pearsall being transported into an ambulance, and he was reported to be in stable condition after the incident. The 17-year-old suspect involved in the shooting was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
The shooting occurred when Pearsall was walking alone in the Union Square area, and a suspect attempted to rob him at gunpoint. San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott mentioned that multiple shots were fired during the incident.
Pearsall, a 23-year-old NFL player, had been drafted by the 49ers in the first round earlier this year. Despite facing some injuries during training camp, he had been working towards making an impact in his rookie season.
