San Francisco 49ers first-round draft pick Ricky Pearsall was involved in an attempted robbery in downtown San Francisco on Saturday, where he was shot. The incident was confirmed by Mayor London Breed, who stated that the San Francisco Police Department responded promptly and arrested the shooter. Pearsall's condition was a concern, and Mayor Breed expressed her thoughts and support for him and his family.

Updates on Pearsall's condition were promised by Mayor Breed as more information became available. According to sources from San Francisco Supervisor Aaron Peskin's office, Pearsall is currently in stable condition. Fellow 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel also shared relief about Pearsall's well-being on social media.

The San Francisco Fire Department reported that two victims were found near Grant and Geary streets with gunshot wounds. Both victims were swiftly taken to a hospital for medical attention. The San Francisco Police Department disclosed that an attempted robbery involving Pearsall led to a physical altercation resulting in injuries to both the suspect and the victim. The suspect is in custody, and charges are pending.

Ricky Pearsall, the 31st overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, had an impressive senior season at Florida before joining the 49ers. However, he faced challenges during the preseason due to a shoulder injury described by head coach Kyle Shanahan as a shoulder subluxation. Pearsall also dealt with a hamstring injury that caused him to miss all three preseason games.
